Hypno-Massage: A Deep Healing Experience You’ve Never Seen Before – Live with Janet Rapala at AHC 2025

When you hear the phrase “hypno-massage,” you might tilt your head and say, "Wait … what?"

That’s exactly what I did when I first spoke with Janet Rapala, who is coming all the way from the United States to share her ground breaking work with us at this year’s Australian Hypnosis Conference.

And let me tell you – this is not just another talk.

This is a live opportunity to witness a modality that brings together touch, trance, emotional release, and true transformation in a way that’s never been taught quite like this before.

From the ER to the Healing Room – Janet’s Journey

Janet’s path is far from ordinary. She began her career as a registered nurse, working in high-pressure environments like Level 1 trauma centres and IV infusion therapy. Nursing was her full-time gig, but she always had a healing side-hustle going. One of those side gigs was training as a licensed massage therapist – a journey she began after seeing the potential of massage to support people with chronic pain, like fibromyalgia.

For over two decades, Janet ran her own massage practice alongside her nursing work. And during that time, she started noticing something: people weren’t just physically relaxing on her table — they were emotionally releasing, too. Clients would cry for “no reason.” Tension would melt, and suddenly old memories or deep feelings would bubble to the surface.

Sound familiar?

If you're a therapist, coach, or bodyworker, you’ve probably seen this too - moments when the body remembers even when the mind doesn’t.

But here’s the problem: massage therapists are rarely taught what to do when this happens.
Be present. Hold space. That’s about it.

On the other side, hypnotherapists understand these reactions - abreactions, emotional release, catharsis - but don’t always have a way to integrate the body into the process. Touch is rarely a part of traditional hypnotherapy.

So Janet asked a powerful question:

“Why not merge these two? Why not bring hypnotic language and processing into the massage room – and bring body-based awareness into hypnosis?”

Hypno-Massage: Where Body, Mind & Subconscious Unite

Janet’s approach to hypno-massage is a psycho-neuro-sensory fusion of two deeply healing modalities. It’s not just hypnosis with touch. It’s not just massage with background affirmations. It’s a crafted, intentional process that guides clients into trance through the body — releasing stuck emotions, reframing subconscious beliefs, and facilitating deep transformation in a session that feels safe, supported, and holistic.

Here’s what makes it different:

Trance Without Touch – Even if you’re not a massage therapist, you can use “mental massage” and sensory languaging to give clients a physical sense of relief and release
Emotional Release Meets Integration – When tears show up on the massage table, now you’ll know exactly how to guide the process gently and therapeutically
From Panic to Peace – Janet shares her unique techniques for managing panic, anxiety, and stress mid-session, whether through physical contact or verbal anchoring
Customised Audio Therapy – Learn how to create session-specific hypnosis recordings that replace spa music and actually work toward a client’s goals
A True Healing Experience – This isn’t just about “relaxation.” It’s about clearing trauma, transforming stress, and realigning the mind-body system in one integrated approach

Why Hypno-Massage Is the Future of Healing Work

We live in a time where clients are seeking more than talk therapy, and more than physical care. They want transformation. They want healing that connects their inner world with their outer body.

Janet’s work gives us the tools to meet that need. Whether you're a hypnotherapist, a massage therapist, a counsellor, or an energy healer — you’ll walk away with new ways to support your clients through the full spectrum of their healing journey.

She’s even piloting this work with massage schools in the U.S., building research and curriculum to make hypno-massage a core part of future practitioner training.

"You don't need a full massage certification to create these experiences. Just pressure, presence, and the right words at the right time can shift a person’s entire internal world."

🌏 Come Meet Janet at the 2025 Australian Hypnosis Conference

If you’ve ever had a client cry on your table, go into a spontaneous trance, or release something deeply buried in their body — you already know how powerful this work is. Now it’s time to learn how to use it consciously, skillfully, and ethically in your practice.

Janet Rapala’s session will be part workshop, part demo, and all heart – and she’s one of many amazing presenters who will be helping us stretch, grow, and innovate in the world of hypnosis.

🌟 Let’s Stop Wasting Good Trances

We say it jokingly, but it’s true: why waste a good trance?
If your clients are already dropping into deep states during bodywork, or zoning out during hypnosis, why not use that space intentionally?

Let’s help people not just feel better for an hour — but truly release what no longer serves them.

Come meet Janet. Experience hypno-massage. And be part of the future of healing.

We’ll see you there. 💙— Trish Pellen Host, Australian Hypnosis Conference
