Somatic Hypnosis: The Missing Link to Last Transformation
With Marissa Warren
There are moments in this profession where you hear someone speak and instantly know they are bringing something important to the table.
When the conversation quickly moved beyond traditional hypnosis and into something many practitioners are now recognising as essential: the role of the body in lasting transformation.
Marissa is a clinical hypnotherapist who integrates somatic embodiment processes into her client work, combining subconscious change work with body-based healing approaches. During the interview, she explained that while hypnosis creates incredible change within the mind, many clients continue carrying deep dysregulation within the nervous system and body itself.
She described it as clients feeling almost “split”, where the mind may understand change intellectually, yet the body continues responding from survival, stress, or trauma patterns.
This realisation became a turning point in her work.
Over time, Marissa began incorporating somatic healing processes including breathwork, nervous system regulation, trauma release techniques, and embodiment practices into her treatment plans. The results, she explained, were profound.
Clients were not only experiencing rapid breakthroughs, they were also developing practical tools and resources they could continue using long after sessions ended.
One of the key themes explored during the conversation was how unresolved stress and emotional experiences can present physically within the body. Marissa discussed how clients experiencing anxiety, insomnia, chronic stress, or overwhelm often also present with physical symptoms such as shallow breathing, muscular tension, exhaustion, digestive discomfort, and ongoing nervous system dysregulation.
Rather than forcing clients to repeatedly relive trauma through talk therapy, her approach focuses on helping the body move through its own healing and regulation process safely and naturally.

See you there!
As Marissa explained during the discussion, the body does not always need a detailed story to begin healing. Sometimes it simply needs the opportunity to reset.
The conversation also explored fascinating areas including epigenetics, generational healing, and the possibility that emotional imprints and stress responses can be carried through family lines and early developmental experiences.
For practitioners attending the conference, Marissa’s presentation promises to offer a powerful perspective on how hypnosis and somatic approaches can work together to create deeper, more sustainable client outcomes.
Her session, “Somatic Hypnosis: The Missing Link to Lasting Transformation,” will explore how practitioners can better understand nervous system regulation, body-held trauma responses, and the integration of somatic work within hypnosis practice.
For anyone passionate about transformational work, trauma-informed approaches, and creating lasting change for clients, this is set to be an insightful and thought-provoking presentation at the Australian Hypnosis Conference 2026.
